Meet Our Partners

Alacpa

SEAN AKEROYD, CPA, CA

Sean was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. He attended the University of Victoria, obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2006.

Returning home to Vancouver, Sean started work at a leading mid-size accounting firm. In 2008, he obtained his Chartered Accountant designation and advanced to manager level of the Private Enterprise Group. Having obtained experience in a wide variety of industries, Sean believed in creating a more personal approach to accounting, and since 2011 has been working to achieve this vision with his partners, Steve and Khalid.

Today, Sean specializes in working with owner-managed private companies, and enjoys handling a variety of matters including corporate tax, personal tax, and assurance engagements. In his spare time, Sean can be found crushing the notion that accountants aren’t athletic by engaging in some sort of sport, his favourites being golf, tennis, cycling, and soccer.

Alacpa

KHALID AMLANI, CPA, CA

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Khalid is passionate about the environment. He’s a Chartered Accountant with a diverse background in accounting, finance and taxation.

Starting his career in a mid-size accounting firm, he gained extensive experience as a manager of the Private Enterprise Group where he provided tax and accounting solutions. He moved on to hold the position of CFO with companies in the clean energy, mining and clean technology sectors. Today, Khalid practices mainly in the area of tax planning, accounting and business services for small and medium-sized companies with a specific focus on healthcare professionals, real estate and construction.

Like his partners, he believes in providing a uniquely personalized understanding to taxation and advisory accounting. With over 10 years of experience under his belt, Khalid helps his clients make sense of their numbers by providing tax, accounting, and strategic business advice.
In his spare time, Khalid enjoys getting outdoors by golfing all summer, snowboarding all winter, and spending time with his family.

Con Buckley, CPA, CA

Con graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1969 with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and obtained his Chartered Accounting designation in 1972. Con is the firm’s founding partner and has guided it over the years to emerge as one of the ten best accounting firms in Vancouver. He was a recipient of the Wealth Management Award as being one of the top 5% of estate and tax practitioners in Vancouver.

Con has been a director in several enterprises, both public and private companies and non-profits. He serves a wide verity of clients in the capacity of accounting business consulting, financing, taxation and estate planning. He was also selected as a delegate to the Technologies of the Future conference in San Francisco hosted by the author of, The World is Flat, Thomas Friedman. The conference addressed the latest technology trends affecting the future of businesses and how businesses will need to position themselves to take advantage of these trends and not to become redundant.He is also the Vancouver delegate to the conference in New York addressing the cities of the future which will discuss, amongst other things, the business’ a future city will need to attract to be a truly successful city.

Geoff Dodds, CPA, CA

Geoff graduated in Commerce with a major in Accounting and Finance, from the University of British Columbia and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1980. Geoff is the managing and personnel partner and his practice consists of audit, assurance, accounting, tax, and business advisory services for small to medium sized organizations. He has extensive experience in public companies and regulatory issues, the film industry, not for profit organizations, corporate and NPO governance issues, and the hospitality industry.

Geoff is also very active in assisting not-for-profit organizations as a trusted advisor, treasurer and board director over his professional career. In 2013 Geoff was elected to the Council (Board of Directors) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. and was very active in the merger of the three Accounting Professions to the new Chartered Professional Accountants of BC, CPABC. Geoff is now Chairman of the Board of Directors of CPABC which oversees the 37,000 CPA’s in BC. Geoff also sits on the following Boards & Committees:

  • Treasurer and member of the audit and executive committee , ICABC, 2014-2015

  • Director, CPABC Initial Board of Directors, appointed by the Minister of Advanced Education, 2015-2021

Mickey Goldstein, CPA,CA

Mickey provides accounting, assurance, and business advisory services to both private and public companies and not-for-profit organizations. Mickey specializes in mining, technology, manufacturing, real estate and medical industries.  She has a keen understanding of public company operations, restructurings, acquisitions and IPOs.  Mickey provides transactional services to companies in Canada and United States in relation to initial public offerings, acquisitions, and prospectus filings.

Mickey graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree, and went on to obtain her CA, CPA.

Mickey spends her spare time at the boxing gym, or outdoors with her family.

Cara Pavlakovic, CPA, CA

Born and raised on the west coast, Cara is happy to call Vancouver home.

Cara started her career at a leading mid-size accounting firm, where she gained extensive experience primarily serving private enterprise clients in a variety of industries and with businesses of varying size. She obtained her Chartered Accountant designation in 2010 and has since completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and the CPA Canada In-Depth GST/HST Course. Cara further developed her tax knowledge as a senior manager in the tax group of another leading mid-size accounting firm.

Cara advises clients on a wide range of corporate and personal tax matters, corporate reorganizations, non-resident taxation, trust and estate taxation, GST/HST and PST matters, and dealing with various tax authorities. She focuses mainly on small to medium-sized owner-managed companies but recognizes the importance of personalized accounting service for businesses of all sizes.

In her spare time, Cara enjoys getting outdoors and back to nature, as well as exploring Vancouver’s arts and culinary scenes.
